We have just heard that Guy Ritchie has pulled out of directing Lobo, an alien action movie to concentrate on the Sherlock Holmes sequel. He was originally due to start on the bounty hunter saga after the first Holmes movie had finished production.
This follows the news that Robert Downey Jr. has also pulled out of his alien movie.
Yes you read that right, the studio with the most new 3D movies around isn't going to release its first title until the fourth quarter of 2010. We've seen some cool 3D demos in past few days but lets face it, the technology is worthless without content. Now you might think that Disney would help launch 3D with a big hit like Toy Story 3, but you'd be wrong. No instead it'll all get kicked off with Disney's A Christmas Carol -- no we're not feeling it either. Disney is the third studio to announce 3D content that'll be released this year, and although none of them are up our alley, we're sure someone is excited to see them.
Dexter actor Michael C. Hall revealed Wednesday he has been battling cancer, but said he’s almost finished with treatment and the disease is in remission.
Hall, 38, said in a statement he is lucky to have been diagnosed with the "treatable and curable condition" - Hodgkin’s lymphoma - and thanked his Los Angeles-area medical team for their skill in caring for him.
His spokesman, Craig Bankey, said Hall’s cancer is in remission but the actor will continue scheduled treatments.
Hall plans to go with his wife - and Dexter costar - Jennifer Carpenter to Sunday’s Golden Globes, where he's nominated for best dramatic actor and the show as best drama. He also plans to attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards the following Saturday, where Hall and the cast are also nominated.
Due to other commitments it appears that Robert Downey Jr has quit the forthcoming Cowboys & Aliens production. The news of the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 2 is most likely the reasoning behind the move.
After a lot of problems with the Spider-Man 4 scripts the movie has taken a new direction by sending Peter Parker abck to school and to follow him as he grapples with the powers he has developed.
This was a bridge too far for Tobey Maguire and he has quit the movie franchise prior to the start of filming.
Neither the actor, nor Sam Raimi, the director behind all three of the Spider-Man films will now be involved in the fourth instalment, along with actress Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane Watson, love interest of the crime fighter’s alter ego, Peter Parker.
Director Sam Raimi was apparently unwilling to accept both the script, and financial conditions imposed by Sony executives.
We've just heard that the J.J Abrams' sequel to Star Trek is to be released on 29 June 2012. At Red Eye Review we really enjoyed his first outing at the helm of this massive franchise and we look forward to the as yet untitled second voyage.
Filming on Transformers 3 is all set to start later this year.
We have just heard that Sherlock Holmes 2 will start shooting later this year.
You're not dreaming. This is THE movie event of the year. Don't miss it.
Toy Story 3
Pixar have never made a better film. Don't bother taking the kids, though; it'll be wasted on them.
Eastern Promises
Gritty, intense and impossible to look away. Eastern Promises challenges our ideas of morality as a compelling plot unravels and at the same time sucks us in. A must see.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Fans of the video game can rejoice: for the first time ever, we have a game-turned-film that isn't a complete disaster.
Iron Man 2
Big, brash, fun and stupid. Exactly what we were all expecting, and none the worse for it.
