Disturbia

Red Eye Rundown
Entertaining acting, fun and scary idea, not a horror but a family drama.
Why not try Constantine, Transformers, Robots

After his father’s death, Kale (Shia LaBeouf) becomes sullen, withdrawn, and troubled so much so that he finds himself under a court-ordered sentence of house arrest. His mother, Julie (Carrie-Anne Moss), works night and day to support herself and her son, only to be met with indifference and lethargy.

The walls of his house begin to close in on Kale. He becomes a voyeur as his interests turn outside the windows of his suburban home towards those of his neighbors, one of which Kale begins to suspect is a serial killer. But, are his suspicions merely the product of cabin fever and his overactive imagination?

Shia LaBeouf has stolen scenes from Keanu Reeves and his demonic enemies, disciplined Transformers on his front lawn and punched a Spanish teacher in the face... All in all he has had a fun start to his career. It is always nice to see a young(ish) actor with such intelligence and confidence on screen not delivering his lines with brash delivery but with a posed comic timing.

Carrie-Anne Moss still looks and sounds great, and it is nice to see her atop the charts where she belongs.

After watching a lot of movies with too many elements that didn't work and one twisted concept after another, I can honestly say I have finally seen one that works.

Disturbia is an entertaining and scary neighborhood drama. Although there is really no surprise when the final truth is revealed. The way in which the main characters react to the extra-ordinary circumstances only heighten the sense of intrigue and fear.

The production values of the film are all of the highest order, although their is a little too much apple product placement for my liking.

What let the film down a little was the focus on the story itself, and the limited characters. With a little more investment in the other characters around the neighbourhood, the director could have placed futher doubts in the mind of the main character.

However in conclusion this was an entertaining piece about loss, love, life and scary serial killers, that was held together bu some excellent acting by the lead cast.
